Once I get the house, I got to fill it up with furniture....my first time ever buying furniture!!?
Where is the best place to get a bed, a platform bed if possible or even better a captain one....drawers and what not.
Kitchen tables, Bfast nook...I've seen a table that with some movements can change in size, anyone heard of that?
A fridge and washer/dryer....which brand? cheapest?
Sofa/bed combo....a good one and where to get it.
I thought of 'Ikea' or 'Rooms to go'....I thought that Ikea is kind of expensive.
If you happen to have some ideas and know how, you'd do me a solid with your guidance. I'm in North FL, near Jacksonville.
I'm military so, going to the NEX will be no problem either.
Any help is appreciated.
The problem with IKEA is that everyone loves the looks but the furniture is not really all that well built. Most of it is KD or 'knock down' meaning that you have to assemble it yourself. The problem is that after you've taken the stuff apart a few times it no longer really goes back together very sturdily. If you do buy some stuff from IKEA I would recommend gluing together whatever you can if you do not plan on moving it anytime soon.
I am up in the mid-west so I haven't had a lot of experience with Rooms-to-go, however I have another tech friend who lives in Virginia and he has worked on some of their stuff, he said it was pretty much middle of the road on the lower end.
You could try Ashley, although we sometimes call it "trASHLEY" in the repair industry. For the money Value-City Furniture is not bad, just remember what you are getting and you should be satisfied.
The bottom line is that what really separates all furniture retailers alike is what kind of support and service you get AFTER the sale. If you find a place that you are interested in buying from then do an internet search on complaints against them and see how many hits and what types of complaints are mentioned.
You could also check out garage sales or some of the donation places such as good-will and so forth. You'd be surprised what you can find, often times they will have an old, somewhat beat up piece of furniture, but that old piece of furniture often can be refinished into something spectacular and old furniture is oftentimes MUCH better built then the crap they sell today.
Good luck!
