King/Queen of wind instruments?
I know this might be a subjective topic, but, who do you think is the king/queen (to put it this way) of all the wind instruments (flute, panflute, oboe, trumpet, sax, etc.) ? - for example I know that the violin is considered to be the queen of all musical instruments or only of the string family

The oboe is like the woodwind equivalent of the violin. It is one of the most difficult instruments to play (like the violin is) and is a vital part of the orchestra as a whole. The oboe plays the A of which the whole orchestra takes its pitch to tune. Additionally, the oboe, despite a lesser number of instrumentalists required in comparison to other instruments, has prominent and crucial roles in orchestral works as most composers avail of the instrument rigorously.
With regards to brass, many consider the trumpet to be "king". However, as you said, it is very subjective!
