How are Asians trying to be White if they get eye lid surgery?
I don't understand why do so many people, especially Americans insist that Asians are trying to look White by getting eye lid surgery. In the end they still look Asian with or without double lids.
There are people in my family who are full Asian and are born with double eye lids, does that mean we want to be White?
I think Asians who get eye lid surgery look like me and other Asians with double lid, not White.

I don't think they are trying to be white but I don't really buy this argument that just becuase SOME Asians have a double eyelid the Asians who don't who get the surgery are making the right decision. Maybe there are Asians born with double eyelids and black people born with straight hair and Indians born with light skin and White people born with full lips and tan skin but the majority of these groups do not have these features naturally.
And either way, when someone gets plastic surgery and other chemical processes to change their appearance they are trying to look like something other than how they are born and how is that ever a good thing? These people often have low self esteem and have been influenced by the media and society's idea of beauty and don't realize they were beautiful before the change. And that's sad. Instead of judging people who do these things though we should be looking for ways to inspire enough confidence in them so that they don't feel they have to do these things.
